Investigation and Analysis of Mental Health Status of Fighter Pilots

Objective To analyze the mental health of fighter pilots and to seek the ways to further improve comprehensive mental health of pilots.Methods One hundred excellent fighter pilots as experimental group and 137 freshmen in a university as control were evaluated by Symptom Checklist 90（SCL-90）.Data were analysed by SPSS.The similarities and differences of mental health of the two groups were summarized in terms of feeling,sensation,thinking,consciousness,behavior and life habit,interpersonal relationship,diet and sleeping.Results ① The mental health of experimental group was good and the factor scores and total scores were significantly lower than control group （P0.01）.The mental health of experimental group was better than control group.② The most influential factors on the total SCL-90 scores of the experimental group were depression,somatization,obsession compulsive（the regression coefficients were 14.182,13.734 and 11.350 respectively）,and the factors including anxiety,psychoticism and interpersonal sensitivity also had great effect（the regression coefficients were 10.864,10.702 and 10.116 respectively）.Conclusion The mental health of fighter pilots are good,but partial pilots are positive in somatization,obsessive compulsive symptems, interpersonal sensitivity,depression,anxiety,hostility,phobic anxiety and other factors including sleeping and diet.Among these factors,the main influential factors on the mental health are depression,obsessive compulsive symptoms and anxiety.The other factors were highly correlated with them.
