Abstract:Panic disordered patients experiencing a major life event shortly before the onset of their first panic attack were compared to patients whose attacks started spontaneously. There were very few significant differences between the two patient groups for the 65 tested clinical variables. The study data suggests situational panic disorder probably does not represent a specific diagnostic subtype.
