Abstract:Objectives To explore the impacts of prenatal benzo (a)pyrene (BaP) exposure on the expression of cancer-related gene of fetus. Methods BaP in cord serum of 20 newborns was detected by using high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC)/fluorescence, and the mRNA of RPL27A, NUDT2 and E2F1 in cord serum was tested by real-time PCR. The relationship between BaP exposure level and gene expression was analyzed. Results The average level of BaP in 20 cord serum samples was 0. 38 ±0. 31 ug/L and the samples were grouped into 5 groups according to BaP levels. With the increase of BaP exposure, the expression of RPL27A and NUDT2 genes showed an up-regulated trend, while E2F1 gene showed a down-regulated trend. Conclusion Prenatal BaP exposure might induce a change of the expression of cancerrelated genes.
