| Abstract: | Root caries is the main form of caries among old people.The pathology of root caries is complicated because the root surface contains high composition of organic collagen and possesses a unique microenvironment.Candida albicans and Actinomyces viscous are normal oral microorganisms while both of these two species play important roles in the occurrence and development of root caries because of their properties,such as acid production,acid tolerance,and organism degradation.We review research on the relationship between Candida albicans,Actinomyces viscous,and root caries to provide novel insights into the clinical control of root caries from the perspective of fungal and bacterial control. |
