The observation on the efficacy of internal limiting membrane peeling without assisted staining for the treatment of idiopathic macular hole

Objective To evaluate the clinical efficacy of internal limiting membrane peeling without assisted staining for idiopathic macular hole(1MH).Methods The clinical data of 84 eyes of 84 cases with IMH from Jul.2018 to Jul.2019 in the Second People's Hospital of Zhengzhou were retrospectively analyzed.Those patients were divided into two groups,including no staining group with 46 eyes of 46 patients and ICG staining group with 38 eyes of 38 patients.All cases underwent 25G minimally invasive vitrectomy with internal limiting membrane peeling intraoperatively,and nonexpansive gas tamponade after fluid-air exchange.The visual acuity and rate of macular hole closure of two groups were observed.All cases were followed up for 3-6 months.Results The closure rate of macular hole in no staining group was 97.83%(45/46),which was similar to 100.00%(38/38)in ICG staining group(x²=0.836,P=0.361).In no staining group,the visual acuity at 3 months and 6 months after operation were better than that before operation(F=l.408,P=0.001).The difference of postoperative visual acuity was not statistically significant between two groups(P>0.05).Conclusion Internal limiting membrane peeling without assisted staining for treating idiopathic macular hole is an efficient and safe treatment,which avoids the toxic side effects caused by dyes and promotes postoperative visual function recovery.
