Abstract: | Subtalar arthrodesis is an effective treatment of the planovalgus deformity of posterior tibial tendon insufficiency that provides stable and reliable results with minimal complications. Disadvantages include the risk of symptomatic adjacent joint arthrosis at long-term follow-up and less clinical and radiographic correction of the deformity as compared with other reconstructive options, which may make the joint-preserving procedures more attractive for the primary treatment of patients with a flexible pes planovalgus deformity without subtalar pain. |
