Effect of Sequential Ventilation on Exacerbation of Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease and Respiratory Failure in ICU

Objective To investigate the effect of invasive-noninvasive sequential mechanical ventilation in the treatment of patients suffered from exacerbation of COPD complicated with respiratory failure in ICU.Methods A total of 92 patients suffered with COPD complicated with respiratory failure in ICU from January 2018 to October 2019 were selected and divided into observation group(n=46)and control group(n=46).The control group was treated with invasive mechanical ventilation,and the observation group was treated with invasive-non-invasive sequential mechanical ventilation.The complications and invasive ventilation time,offline time,and ICU time of the two groups were observed.Results The incidence of complications in the observation group(2.17%)was lower than that in the control group(13.04%),the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05);the invasive ventilation time,offline time and ICU hospitalization time in the observation group were less than those in the control group,the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusion The sequential ventilation is effective in the treatment of COPD aggravation and respiratory failure in ICU,which can reduce complications,shorten the time of mechanical ventilation,promote the recovery of patients,and have high application value.
