Clinical effect of budesonide combined with endoscopic sinus surgery in the treatment of sinusitis-nasal polyps and its influence on recurrence rate

Objective To explore the clinical effect of budesonide combined with endoscopic sinus surgery in the treatment of sinusitis-nasal polyps and its influence on recurrence rate.Methods A total of 66 patients with sinusitis-nasal polyps treated in our hospital from January 2018 to January 2020 were retrospectively selected as the research objects.According to the treatment methods,the patients were divided into single treatment group(treatment of endoscopic sinus surgery alone)and combined treatment group(treatment of endoscopic sinus surgery combined with budesonide),with 33 cases in each group.The clinical symptom score,nasal mucosal structure score,nasal airway resistance,olfactory function score,serum inflammatory factor level,clinical efficacy,adverse reactions and recurrence were compared between the two groups.Results After treatment,the scores of nasal congestion,rhinorrhea,headache,Lund-Kennedy,Lund-Mackey,olfactory function and nasal airway resistance in the combined treatment group were significantly lower than those in the single treatment group,and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).After treatment,the levels of serum IFN-γ,TNF-αand IL-6 in the combined treatment group were significantly lower than those in the single treatment group,and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).The total effective rate of treatment in the combined treatment group was 90.91%,which was significantly higher than 75.76%in the single treatment group(P<0.05).There was no significant difference in the total incidence of adverse reactions between the two groups(P>0.05);the recurrence rate in the combined treatment group was 6.06%,which was significantly lower than 18.18%in the single treatment group(P<0.05).Conclusion Endoscopic sinus surgery combined with budesonide in the treatment of sinusitis-nasal polyps is more effective than endoscopic sinus surgery alone,and the recurrence rate is lower.
