The relationship between insulin resistance,islet cell function and gestational diabetes mellitus

Objective To study the correlation between insulin resistance,islet cell function and gestational diabetes mellitus(GDM).Methods 222 pregnant women who were examined and delivered in Maternal and Child Health Hospital of Edong Medical Group from September 2017 to September 2019 were selected as the research objects,according to the occurrence of GDM,the pregnant women were divided into GDM group(n=69)and non GDM group(n=153).The fasting blood glucose(FBG)level,fasting insulin(FINS)level and other indexes were measured,and the insulin resistance index(HOMA-IR)and islet cell function index(HOMA-β)were calculated.The correlation between HOMA-IR and HOMA-βat different gestational weeks,and their correlation with GDM were analyzed.Results HOMA-IR in non GDM group was significantly lower than that in GDM group(P<0.05),HOMA-βduring pregnancy in GDM group was significantly lower than that in non-GDM group(P<0.05).There was no significant difference in HOMA-IR between the two groups(P>0.05),while HOMA-βshowed a decreasing trend(P<0.05).The results of binary Logistic regression analysis showed that the high level of HOMA-IR was the risk factor of GDM(P<0.05),HOMA-βhigh level was a protective factor for GDM(P<0.05).Conclusions Insulin resistance and insulin cell function are re-lated to the occurrence of GDM,and the increase of insulin resistance is the risk factor for GDM,while the good function of insulin cells is the protective factor of GDM.
