The Preventive Effect of Portal Vein Chemotherapy on Postoperative Recurrence of Hepatocellular Carcinoma

Objective To explore the preventive effect of portal vein chemotherapy on the recurrence after radical resection of hepatocellular carcinoma. MethodsAll the 193 patients with hepatocellular carcinoma who underwent radical resection were randomly divided into two groups:the 147 patients underwent prophylactic portal vein chemotherapy after operation,and the 46 patients underwent radical resection.The 147 patients in the portal vein chemotherapy group received chemotherapy for 1 year.The recurrence of all the patients were observed. ResultsThe 1-,2-and 3-year recurrence rate was 10.9%,38.1% and 51.7% in the portal vein chemotherapy group;and 19.6%,47.8%,76.1% in the control group(P<0.01).The survival rates of the portal vein chemotherapy group was significantly higher than those of the control group(P<0.01). ConclusionPortal vein chemotherapy after radical resection can decrease the postoperative recurrence rate of hepatocellular carcinoma,and prolong the survival time.
