Effect of N-acetylcysteine on Oxidation and Antioxidation in the Liver of Rat Liver Fibrosis

Abstract:Objective] To investigate the effect of N-acetylcysteine(NAC) on the oxidation and antioxldation system in the liver of rat hepatic fibrosis. Methods] Immunolesion liver fibrosis models were copied by u sing pig serum injected into rat peritoneal cavity. NAC group was intervention group. Animals were killed at 12 weeks. Hydrogen peroxidase(CAT), malondialdehyde(MDA), superoxide dismutase (SOD) , glutathione (GSH) and vitamine E(Vit E) in the liver were measured. Masson's dying was used to analyze the extent of hepatic fibrosis in each group, and their relationship was analyzed. Results] SOD, GSH, CAT and Vit E in the liver of NAC group were significantly higher than those of model group, but MDA in NAC group was obviously lower than that in model group. The correlation analysis showed that the extent of liver fibrosis was significantly positively related with MDA( P〈0.01), and negatively related with SOD, GSH, Vit E and CAT ( P〈0.01, P〈0.01, P〈0.01, P〈0.01, respectively).Conelusion]The increase of hepatic collagen ex pression may be correlated with lipid peroxidation. NAC can effectively decrease lipid peroxidation, and restore the balance of oxidation and antioxidation system, and alleviate hepatic fibrosis.
