Mathematical modelling of changes in circulating insulin and C-peptide concentrations

Summary A simple mathematical model is proposed to assess the validity of methods currently used in clinical investigation to detect short-term or long-term alterations in insulin and/or C-peptide clearance. This model draws attention to unwarranted conclusions which resulted from the analysis of insulin and C-peptide plasma concentrations.
