Effects of midazolam combined with quintiapine on sleep quality and cognitive function in patients with Alzheimer' s disease with sleep disorder

Objective To investigate the effect of midazolam combined with quintiapine on sleep quality and cognitive function in patients with Alzheimer’s disease(AD)with sleep disorder.Methods According to the random table method,100 patients with Alzheimer’s disease with sleep disorder treated in our hospital from May 2016 to May 2017 were divided into control group and observation group,with 50 cases in each group.The control group was treated with single quintiapine,the observation group were treated with midazolam on the basis of quintiapine treatment.The PSQI score and MMSE score before and after treatment were compared between the two groups.Results After treatment,the sleep disorder,time to fall asleep,sleep quality,sleep time,sleep efficiency,sleep medication and daytime function scores of the observation group were lower than those of the control group,and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).Compared with before treatment,the MMSE scores of the two groups increased after treatment,and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).The MMSE score of the observation group was higher than that of the control group,and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusion Midazolam combined with quintiapine can effectively improve the sleep quality and cognitive function of patients with Alzheimer’s disease with sleep disorder.
