Abstract: | The serum interleukin 18 (IL-18) levels were significantly increased in cases of acute pancreatitis, corresponding to the severity of the disease. The IL-18 levels were also significantly correlated with the serum tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNF-alpha) and bilirubin levels. The possible involvement of IL-18 in the development of liver dysfunction in acute pancreatitis is suggested. |
