Case control study of child obesity

Using 1:1 matched Logistic regression model to study the etiology of 80 obese children, we find the Kaup's index of their parents, birth weight and breast feeding were the risk factors of child obesity. On the other hand, we find the basal metabolic rate of obese children was not different from that of controls. Besides, as to the extent of obesity, we find the earlier obesity occurred (age less than or equal to 4 years) the more severe were they than that of the latter one (age greater than 4 years) because the etiology of these two types was different. The former was associated with prenatal factors while the latter with feeding types. In this study, we also find the skeletal age of obese children was advanced the systolic and diastolic blood pressures were higher and the cardiovascular and respiratory functions weakened.
