Abstract: | Transient congenital hypothyroidism (TCH) was detected in 6 of 35,067 newborns (1:5845 births) screened in Iran. Antithyroglobulin antibodies positivity was present in 4 of 6 (66.7%) of those with TCH and in 6 of 106 (5.7%) of those with "transient hyperthyrotropinemia and normal" diagnoses (P = .0005), but positivity was similar in newborns with transient hyperthyrotropinemia versus normal neonates (P = .397). |
