Abstract:It had recently reported that tobacco agar (TA) could induce chlamydosporulation in Candida albicans and Candida dubliniensis. This new medium was compared with corn meal-Tween 80 agar. Twenty-nine of the 46 C. albicans isolates tested, produced chlamydospores on both media. Six C. albicans isolates produced chlamydospores only on TA, whereas three isolates produced chlamydospores only on corn meal agar. Eight isolates failed to chlamydosporulate on either media. All the reference strains of C. dubliniensis tested produced chlamydospores on both media.
