Abstract: | Over a five-day period, three neutropenic patients developed bacteremia with an identical strain of Klebsiella aerogenes (serotype K16) resistant to co-trimoxazole and gentamicin. All three patients had received prophylaxis with oral co-trimoxazole before the onset of bacteremia. This report outlines some of the problems associated with co-trimoxazole prophylaxis.
