Abstract: | Previous studies have suggested that anti-depressants administered during pregnancy result in an increase in foetal and neonatal morbidity. The present study examined the effects of the anti-depressant imipramine administered before and during pregnancy on litter size in the rat. Imipramine was found to cause a significant reduction in litter size with doses that are used therapeutically. The authors wish to express their thanks to Ciba-Geigy (Australia) Ltd. for supplying imipramine. |
