The eight therapeutic methods for heart yang deficiency syndrome in Treatise on Febrile Diseases and Synopsis of Golden Chamber by Zhang Zhongjing include activating heart yang,activating yang and removing impediment,warming yang and directing qi downward,nourishing both yin and yang,warming yang and dispelling cold,warming yang and promoting diuresis,warming yang and releasing exterior,restoring yang from collapse. Ramulus Cinnamomi and Radix Aconiti Lateralis Preparata are the main herbs in treating heart yang deficiency syndrome by Zhongjing. The commonly used couplet medicines include Ramulus Cinnamomi paring with Radix Glycyrrhizae,Ramulus Cinnamomi or Radix Aconiti Lateralis Preparata paring with Poria,Ramulus Cinnamomi paring with Os Praconis and Concha ostreae,Radix Aconiti Lateralis Preparata paring with dried ginger,Radix Aconiti Lateralis Preparata paring with Ephedra,and Fructus Trichosanthis paring with Bulbus Allii Macrostemonis.
