Analysis of temporal soft tissue thickness in Han adults in Sichuan and Chongqing region

Objective To explore the changes of soft tissue thickness in temporal region with sex gender and age of Han adults in Sichuan and Chongqing area to support the treatment of facial rejuvenation.Methods A total of 600 cranial MRI data(300 for each gender) were collected to measure the soft tissue thickness at each point in the temporal region,and to compare the temporal soft tissue thickness with gender and age.Results In the young group,the thickness of whole soft tissue and extratemporal tissue in female was higher than that in male(P <0.05).In the middle age group,the thickness of external temporal muscle of female inferior temporal region was larger than that of male,and the thickness of temporal muscle was smaller than that of male(P <0.05),and the thickness of whole layer and temporal muscle of male superior temporal region is larger than that of female(P <0.001).In the elder group,the temporal muscle thickness in males was higher than that in females(P <0.001),and there was no statistical significance in the thickness of full-thickness temporal tissue between males and females(P> 0.05).Comparing different aged group of each gender,It found that the thickness of extretemporal muscle tissue and the temporalis between male middle aged group and male young group have no significant difference(P>0.05),and the same to the thickness of low extretemporal muscle tissue between female middle aged group and female senior group.(P>0.05) The thickness of temporal soft tissue in other age groups became thinner with age,the difference was statistically significant.Conclusion Ethnic Han adults(both male and female in Sichuan and Chongqing area) thickness of soft tissue in temporal region gradually decreases with age.However,the soft tissue thinning in male’s temporal region was mainly in the middle and upper temporal region,while the thinning in female’s temporal region is the whole temporal region and it would be greater than that in male.
