| Abstract: | Since December 1971 to August 1991,we have managed 17 patinets with sarc-oma among 722 malignancies of the breast,an incidcnce 2.4% in our series.They consistedof cystosarcoma phyllodes 6,fibrosarcoma 4,Carcinosarcoma 2,leiomyosarcoma 2,reticulumcell sarcoma 1,embryonic rhbdomyosarcoma 1,and osteogenic sarcoma 1,respectively.Clinicaly these tumors have had a history of rapid enlargement of a previously detectedmass.They have been treated by simple mastectomy in 5,radical mastectomy in 10 andmodified radical mastsctomy in 2.Sixteen cases have been followed-up for 5 to 10 yearswith surrival rate of 83% and 15 years survival of 75%.Two patients(one with cystosa-rcoma phyllodes and one with osteogenic sarcoma)died of pulmonary and multiple metast-ases in 3 and 0.5years after surgery. |
