EFFECT OF (-)-HYDROXYCITRATE ON LIPOGENESIS, APPETITE AND BODY WEIGHT IN RATS

Administration of (-)-Hydroxycitrate (HC). (a competitive inhibitor of the enzyme ATP-citrate lyase) to rats causes marked reduction in in vivolipogenesis, food intake, body weight gain, and total body lipid. Chronic administration of HC elevates in vitro rates of lipogenesis.
