The Application Value of Preoperative Neoadjuvant Chemotherapy in the Treatment of Patients with Locally Advanced Cervical Cancer

Objective To investigate the preoperative and operative effects of neoadjuvant chemotherapy in the treatment of patients with locally advanced cervical cancer.Methods Two cycles of TP regimen chemotherapy were given to the 32 patients with locally advanced cervical cancer before the operation in the neoadjuvant chemotherapy group,then radical hysterectomy and pelvic lymphadenectomy were given for 2-3 weeks later.The other 32 patients with the same condition received primary surgery as the control group.The tumor size,the change of SCC and the chemotherapy toxicities were observed before and after chemotherapy,and the situation of operation and the postoperative pathology were compared between the two groups.Results The tumors were smaller significantly after chemotherapy in the neoadjuvant chemotherapy group(P<0.05),among the 32 patients,the 3 cases got CR,the 20 cases got PR,the total response rate was 71.88%;SCC decreased significantly(P<0.05);all the patients could tolerate the chemotherapy toxicities.Compared with the control group,the operation time was shortened significantly,the amount of bleeding was reduced significantly,the rate of lymph node metastasis,the invasion rate of intravascular and the involvement rate of parametrium decreased significantly in the neoadjuvant chemotherapy group(P<0.05).Conclusion Preoperative neoadjuvant chemotherapy in the treatment of locally advanced cervical cancer is safe and effective,it can do the benefit to the tumor resection,and improve the quality of life of the patients.
