Effects of Xiaoyao Decoction on Serum 5 - HT and NO of Rats with Diarrhea-predominant Irritable Bowel Syndrome

Objective ： To observe the effects of Xiaoyao Decoction on serum 5 - HT and NO of rats with diarrhea-predominant irritable bowel syndrome. Method： 60 rats were randomly divided into six groups： the normal group, model group, trimebutine group, Xiaoyao Decoction groups of LD, HD and MD respectively, ten rats in each group. Except for the normal group, five oth- er groups were copied the model of irritable bowel syndrome, and two weeks later, they were given the corresponding treatment. The difference of serum 5 - HT and NO of the rats of each group were observed 10 and 20 days later. Results ： Compared with the model group, there was significant difference in serum 5 -HT and NO in each group after 10 days of treatment （P 〈0.05 ）, and there was no obvious difference among the five treatment groups. Compared with the model group, there was significant difference in serum 5 - HT and NO in each group after 20 days of treatment （P 〈0.05） , there was a significant difference between Xiaoyao Decoction group and trimebutine group （P 〈0.05 ）. Conclusion： Xiaoyao Decoction has a significant antidlarrheic effect, and its effect on irritable bowel syndrome may be related with the change of 5 - HT and NO.
