Abstract: | Conformal radiation therapy with or without intensity modulation is the standard treatment of localized prostate cancer and facilitates dose escalation. The implementation of three-dimensional conformal radiotherapy necessitates focusing on target volume delineation, dosimetry, reproducibility of treatment and quality control. Recently, ultrasound systems that allow direct daily visualization of the prostate have become available. This non-invasive technique can be used to correct both prostate organ motion and set-up error and leads to increase treatment accuracy. |
