Abstract: | Abstract Fibrous dysplasia (FD) is a rare tumour, representing2.5% of all bone tumours and 7% of benigntumours. Aneurysmal bone cyst (ABC) is also an uncommonpathology, usually associated with a secondary vascularlesion consisting of an arteriovenous malformation. Inthis article, we relate a case report of a young female witha rare combination of FD with aneurysmal bone cyst presentingas a subarachnoid haemorrhage (SAH). Despite thepossibility of clinical treatment of these lesions, this reportdemonstrates that symptomatic lesions may be successfullymanaged by surgical resection. The authors’ opinion isthat this treatment should be individualised depending onparticularities of each case, such as localisation of thelesion, biopsy results and image exams features. We alsopresent a critical literature review of diagnostic methodsand therapeutical options for both ABC and FD, withemphasis on controversial topics surrounding these issues. |
