| Abstract: | Diabetic cardiomyopathy (DCM) is one of the cardiovascular complications of diabetes. About 30% of diabetic patients develop heart dysfunction, which gradually develops into DCM, eventually leading to heart failure and death. Nuclear factor NF-E2-related factor (Nrf2) is one of the effective targets for the treatment of DCM. It plays an important role in enhancing the anti-oxidant, anti-inflammatory, anti-fibrosis and anti-apoptotic effects of the myocardium. Studies have shown that several traditional Chinese medicines and their active ingredients can prevent and treat DCM by regulating the Nrf2 signaling pathway. Research progress on traditional Chinese medicine in treatment of DCM through regulating the Nrf2 pathway in recent years are reviewed in this paper, in order to provide a reference for the development of innovative traditional Chinese medicines targeting Nrf2. |
