| Abstract: | Objective To study the effect of total icarrin of epimedium against myocardial injury induced by ischemia and reperfusion in rats. Methods Models of myocardial ischemia were prepared by ligating the left anterior descending coronary artery of rats.The anti-myocardial ischemia action of total icarrin of epimedium was assessed by determining the changes in myocardial infarct size(MIS) and serokinases. Results Total icarrin of epimedium significantly decreased MIS in rats,and the lactic dehydrogenase(LDH) and creatine phosphokinase(CK) activity in serum,improved the activity of superoxide dismutase(SOD) and decreased the malondialdehyde(MDA) contents in myocardium. Conclusion Total icarrin of epimedium had protective effect on the acute myocardial injury induced by ischemia and reperfusion in rats. The mechanism may be related to its role against oxygen free radicals. |
