OBSERVATION ON THE DISINFECTION EFFECT OF DTS-HC ON CONTAMINATED OUTDOOR GROUND |

| Abstract: | Spray of DTS-HC (a Russian-made disinfectant containing three parts of calcium hypochlorite and two parts of calcium hydroxide) powder or water solution was used for disinfection of outdoor ground (sandy earth and grass-land) contaminated by Bacillus anthracis spore under summer condition in south part of China and good sporicidal effect was obtained.For spray of powder, 10 g/m~2 with a 4-hr dwell time or 20 g/m~2 with a 2-hr dwell time achieved a killing rate of 99～99.99%. For spray of water solution, 1000ml/m~2 of 1% solution or 500 ml/m~2 of 2% solution dwelled for 15 minutes achieved a killing rate of 99.9～99.99%. The dosages of powder and water solution used in disinfection of ground were practically equal (10～20 g/m~2). When the powder is used the exposure time needed is longer and the killing rate is slightly lower than that in case of water solution. However, under conditions of lack of water, spray of powder is still a feasible method for disinfection of outdoor ground. Generally, it should not be used when the wind velocity exceeds 2 m/sec. |
