Abstract: | The structure of a novel major carotenoid glycoside (nearly 80% of total carotenoids) from a newly isolated bacterium, Paracoccus schoinia NBRC 100637T, was determined to be adonixanthin diglucoside using spectral data. By contrast, carotenoid diglycosides are rare and are usually minor carotenoids in nature. The minor carotenoids in this bacterium included astaxanthin diglucoside, zeaxanthin diglucoside, canthaxanthin, echinenone, zeaxanthin, beta-cryptoxanthin, and beta-carotene. |
