It is not purely a academic issue how to define medical accident.It involves matters of liability and economic reparation.Medical undertaking in our country is characterized by its nature of public welfare.Medical field is high risk-tak- ing by profession.Therefore,the employed and m edical institutions are not well m atched in strength and in m ental prepara- tion for large am ount of reparation when facing m ore and m ore m edical accidents.Moreover,development of social insurance and lawyer business is sluggish,so the contradictions are becom ing increasingly acute in solution of m edical accident and dis- pute.F or this reason,we cannot too careful in expanding the definition of m edical accident.When sanitary regulations are m odified and perfected,it is the principle that should be hold not only to protect patients' legitim ate rights and interests,but also to appropriately reflect the prim ary state of our country' s m edical econnomy.
