Abstract: | BackgroundNeuroschistosomiasis is an uncommonly reported disease.Case characteristicsAn adolescent Indian boy residing in Kenya presented with headache, visual symptoms and seizures, with MRI showing space-occupying lesions in the occipital lobe and cerebellum.ObservationBrain biopsy was diagnostic of neuro-schistosomiasis; complete recovery was seen with praziquantel and corticosteroid therapy.MessageThis case highlights the importance of considering epidemiology in differential diagnosis and establishing definitive diagnosis even if it is by invasive methods. |
