Abstract:The HDL-subclass levels in serum of the 100 patients with coronary artery disease (CAD) diagnosed by coronary arteriography (CAG), 141 non-CAD controls and 41 suspected CAD cases were measured by phosphotungstate--Mg2+ precipitate and enzymic reagent. It was shown that the HDL-subclasses and the serial indexes of HDL2(e.g. HDL2/TC, HDL2/LDL, etc) were more sensitive and specific than the primary indexes (e.g. total cholesterol, triglycerides, HDL, LDL) for distinguishing CAD from other diseases of lipids metabolism (e.g. cerebrovascular atherosclerosis, diabets, etc), and estimating the degree of coronary atherosclerosis. But the levels of HDL2 and its ratios in the groups with occluded a-teries were significantly lower than that in the group without any arteries occlusion, also indexes in the groups with two or more arteries occlusion were lower than that in the group with one artery occlusion. By multiple correlation analysis, the correlation coefficents of the degrees of coronary atherosclerosis and HDL2 and/or its ratios were more than 0.48(P<0.01). The coincident rates of interpolation and extropolation tests of stepwise discrimination function, which was derived from the HDL2 indexes, and coronary arteriographic result were over 80%. Those data show that HDL2 indexes can be applied to microcomputer-assisted quantitative distinguishing diagnosis in the CAD clinical noninvasive examination.
