Abstract: | The suppressive activity of α 2H-isoferritin was studied in vivo and in vitro. α 2H-isoferritin inhibits the hemolysin synthesis in mice and the T independent and T dependent antibodies induced in vitro. The immune response of normal human lymphocytes is suppressed as shown by lymphoblastic transformation induced by mitogen (PHA), antigens (tuberculin and Candidin), mixed lymphocyte cultures. The inhibitory effect is proportional to the quantity of added protein. The normal ferritin has no effect. The role of the carbohydrate component is discussed. |
