The influence of role-playing on the empathy ability of colostomy therapists

Objective To explore the effects of role-playing on empathy of colostomy therapist.Methods A total of 44 students enrolled in Zhengzhou International Colostomy Therapist School from 2019 to 2020 were selected.After the teaching of relevant contents,the students carried out colostomy positioning and pocket pasting with each other,and during the period of wearing the pocket,the materials were replaced every 3 days for a total of 2 times.Before and after the training,students'empathy ability was measured using the Jefferson Scale of Empathy-Health professionals(JSE-HP).Results Students scored(123.64±11.35)on the JSE-HP before role-playing and the score was lower than that after the training(129.77±8.37)(P<0.05).Conclusion Role-playing practice can improve students'empathy ability,and it is worth popularizing and using in colostomy therapist training course.
