Application of Comparative Genomic Hybridization Technique in the Diagnosis of Cutaneous Tumors

The comparative genomic hybridization (CGH) technique, based on the combination of fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) and a pruning technique, is developed as a molecular genetic method to analyze the gene insertion and deletion comprehensively and swiftly. By analyzing altofrequent chromosome mutations, CGH can provide locating information for screening susceptibility genes of cutaneous tumors. Specific results of CGH may conduce to the diagnosis and differential diagnosis of cutaneous tumors, assist in determining their types and stages as well as in evaluating their prognosis, and give clues to their occurrence and development.
