Effect of spironolactone combined with metoprolol in the treatment of elderly patients with chronic heart failure and its influence on cardiac function

Objective To explore the effect of spironolactone combined with metoprolol in the treatment of elderly patients with chronic heart failure and its influence on cardiac function.Methods Seventy elderly patients with chronic heart failure admitted in our hospital from October 2018 to October 2020 were selected and randomly divided into reference group and study group according to the odd and even numbers,with 35 cases in each group.The reference group was given conventional drug treatment,while the study group was given spironolactone and metoprolol on the basis of conventional drug treatment.The clinical efficacy,cardiac function indexes and laboratory indexes of the two groups were compared.Results The total effective rate of treatment in the study group was higher than that in the reference group(P<0.05).After treatment,6-MWT and LEVF increased,LVEDV and LVESV decreased in both groups,and those in the study group were better than the reference group(P<0.05).After treatment,the levels of NT-proBNP and MDA in the two groups decreased,the levels of CAT and SOD increased,and those in the study group were higher than the reference group(P<0.05).Conclusion Spironolactone combined with metoprolol in the treatment of elderly patients with chronic heart failure can improve the effect of drug therapy,reduce oxidative stress,inhibit left ventricular remodeling,and significantly improve the heart function of patients.
