Abstract:To study the distribution of c-fos oncogene expression within limbic system during methaxyflurane, halothane,enflurane and isoflurane anesthesia. Methods: C-fos oncogene immunohistochemical technique (ABC method) was employed. Results: When the fourth inhalating anesthetic's concentration was 2%, most of the Fos like immunoreactive neurons(FLN), appeared in bed nucleus of the striaterminalis, field CA1 of Ammon's horn, field CA2 of Ammons horn, basolateral amygdaloid nucleus, basomedial amygdaloid nucleus, central amygdaloid nucleus, islands of Calleja, lateral habenular nucleus, medial habenular and lateral septal nucleus. Conclusion: The results indicate that FLNs participate in the process of inhalation anesthesia,which necessitates and paves the way for further study of the patterns of linkage and the mechanism of interaction between functional nuclei.
