Abstract: | “Americanization” has been a goal of many programs for culturally and linguistically diverse students in America. This approach has not been successful. In its place is a need for forms of education that are directly relevant to the needs of culturally diverse children. While multicultural education is a necessary part of the early childhood curriculum, there is a need to go beyond muticultaralism, developing forms of education that allow all children to participate in “meaning making”. |
