Abstract: | The effects of divalent metal ions on high affinity uptake glutamate and GABA were examined, using crude and purified synaptosomal fractions prepared from brains of DBA/2CBI. The uptake velocities of both amino acids are severely reduced in the presence of Cu2+, Fe2+ and Zn2+ but remain unaffected by Co2+. |
