Abstract:Objective To investigate the feasibility and scientificity of two-step pure tone hearing screening based on decision tree intelligent algorithm in large-scale rapid detection of moderate and above hearing loss in primary medical units.Methods A total of 399 elderly people in a community were investigated with the 2-step pure tone hearing screening(pure tone with fixed frequency and intensity of 0.5 kHz+47 dB HL and 2 kHz+42 dB HL)and the Chinese version of the hearing handicap inventory for the elderly screening scale(CHHIE-S).The age and gender distribution,and the relationship between the pure tone screening results and the score of the CHHIE-S scale were analyzed and compared with previous literature.Results The proportion of older adults with moderate-to-severe hearing impairment screened by the 2-step pure tone screening was 29.82%(119/399),which was in line with previous literature(39.32%,P=0.052 and 39.91%,P=0.594).Consistent with literature(ageCI 11.8-19.1;male(34.8%),female(20.5%),CI-0.60~1.23),the detection rate of moderate-to-severe hearing loss increased with age(P=0.003),and there was no significant difference between male and female(P=0.067).The pure tone screening results was significantly correlated with the CHHIE-S score(r=0.218,P<0.001)as reported in previous studies(r=0.392,P<0.001),supporting its convergent validity.Conclusion With the basic hearing test equipment,the two-step pure tone hearing screening based on decision tree intelligent algorithm can be used in the routine physical examination for the elderly,which can become a scientific and potential hearing service mode for the elderly in the primary community medical units.
