Clinical application of exhaled nitric oxide in view of American Thoracic Society guideline

Increasing clinical studies makes the roles of exhaled nitric oxide(eNO)in clinical practice gradually recognized.The measurement of eNO has been standardized.Clinicians still feel confused about when and how to interpret and use the eNO testing results in appropriate way in clinical practice.American Thoracic Society established the clinical practice guideline for clinical application of eNO to guide the use of fractional eNO in detecting eosinophilic airway inflammation,supporting the diagnosis of asthma,determining the likelihood of corticosteroid responsiveness,and monitoring the status of airway inflammation.
