Effect of different incision approaches on postoperative recovery and satisfaction of patients with breast fibroma

Objective To investigate the effect of different incision approaches on postoperative recovery and satisfaction in patients with breast fibroma, in order to provide a powerful evidence for clinical treatment of this disease. Methods The clinical data of 108 female patients with breast fibroma treated in a hospital from January 2017 to January 2019 were collected and analyzed retrospectively. Among them, 54 patients who underwent the conventional surgical radial incision were included in a control group, and 54 patients who underwent breast inferior margin incision via posterior mammary space approach were included in a trial group. The postoperative recovery and satisfaction of the patients in two groups were investigated and compared. Results In the trial group, the average time of touch and pain of nipples, the recovery time of sensation and pain of areola were (114.35±16.52) days, (141.23±26.58) days, (148.95±16.85) days, and (195.85±15.35) days respectively, which were shorter than those in the control group , and there were significant differences between two groups (t=2.518, 2.405, 2.752, and 2.628, P=0.013, 0.018, 0.007, and 0.010). The total satisfaction of the patients in the trial group was higher than that in the control group (98.15% vs. 85.19%), and the difference was statistically significant (χ2=4.364, P=0.015). In the trial group, the operation time was (42.35±2.78) minutes, the incision healing time was (6.45±1.45) days, the hospitalization time was (6.56±1.52) days, the amount of intraoperative blood loss was (18.45±1.23) mL, and the length of incision was (2.12±0.40) cm, all of which were shorter/less than those in the control group , and there were significant differences between two groups (t=20.928, 9.362, 9.865, 34.498, and 3.960, all P=0.000). Conclusion The operative treatment of breast inferior margin incision via posterior mammary space approach can effectively shorten the postoperative recovery time and improve the satisfaction of the patients, and it is beneficial to the prognosis of the patients.
