Current situation and influencing factors of poor vision of senior high school students in Yiyuan County in 2019

Objective To understand the current status and influencing factors of poor vision of senior high school students in Yiyuan County, so as to provide the evidence for the formulation of prevention and control measures. Methods The physical examination data of senior high school students in 2019 were used to analyze the current status and related factors of poor vision by the methods of Chi-square test and multivariate logistic regression. Results The detection rate of poor vision among senior high school students in Yiyuan County was 82.1%. Among different types of schools, the detection rate of poor vision in Yiyuan No.1 High School was the highest (90.1%), and the lowest (69.4%) in Vocational Education Center (χ2=621.55, P<0.001); among the grades, the detection rate of poor vision in grade three was the highest (87.3%), whereas the lowest (76.6%) in grade two (χ2=153.37, P<0.001). The detection rate of poor vision of females was 86.5%, higher than that of males (77.3%) (χ2=174.57, P<0.001); the detection rate of poor vision of urban students was 88.2%, higher than that of rural students (80.5%) (χ2=78.30, P<0.001). The multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that grade three (OR=1.20, 95%CI: 1.05-1.37) and urban students (OR=1.16, 95%CI: 1.00-1.33) were the risk factors; Yiyuan No. 2 High School (OR=0.52, 95%CI: 0.45-0.59), Lushan School (OR=0.41, 95%CI: 0.33-0.49), Vocational Education School (OR=0.28, 95%CI: 0.25-0.31) and males (OR=0.61, 95%CI: 0.56-0.68) were the protective factors. Conclusion The incidence of poor vision in senior high school students is related to many factors. Health education should be enhanced to protect the vision of senior high school students.
