| Abstract: | Herpes simplex should be recognized as a precipitating factor, a secondary invader, or an imitator of chronic benign familial pemphigus. Results of Tzanck smear and viral culture can confirm the presence of the pathogen so that acyclovir therapy can be instituted. |
