Abstract:Two patients with suspected pulmonary embolism underwent selective pulmonary angiography after non-high probability lung scans were obtained. Selective angiography showed arteriovenous shunting similar to that seen in pulmonary arteriovenous malformation. This shunting was due to the malposition of the tip of the catherer in a small branch of the pulmonary artery. The implications of these artefactual findings are discussed. Correspondence to: E. J.
