Abstract:OBJECTIVE To explore the risk factors and preventive measures of hospital infection among the patients with diabetets millitus (DM). METHODS There were 41 patients occurring hospital infection among 516 in patients with DM . Their general situation, hospitalized days, acute or chronic complications, antibiotic abuse application in community, invasive treatment administrations, prognosis, anatomic area and time of occurrence of hospital infection and pathogenic bacteria were collected and evaluated at the same time. RESULTS The incidence rate of hospital infection was higher in patients with DM and was related positively to age, hospitalized days, antibiotic misuse, control index of the blood glucose, invasive treatment procedures, and acute or chronic complications. The most common induced sites of the hospital infection were lungs, pathogenic bacteria were mostly distributed in the blood and sputum.CONCLUSIONS In diabetic patients the hospital infection was easily induced, so must be paid attention to it and to the susceptible factors, in order to effectively prevent hospital infection among patients with DM.
Keywords:Diabetes mellitus  Hospital infection  Preventive measures
