Abstract:A series of 368 cases of cervical spine injuries were collected from the Section of Orthopaedics and Rehabilitation, School of Medicine, SIU and studied to define the so-called multiple level injuries and determine the clinical patterns for the benefit of diagnosis and treatment and evaluation of surgical results. Of the 368 cases, 30 cases belonged to multiple level injuries of the cervical spine, which were divided into three groups: (1) cervical spine fracture associated with a thoracic or lumbar spinal fracture (12 cases), (2) non-contiguous fractures in the cervical spine (10 cases) and (3) more than two-level contiguous injuries of the cervical spine (8 cases). The mechanism of injuries and possible results of treatment were also discussed.
