Abstract:Objective Dietary inflammation index(DII) is an epidemiological survey tool and used to evaluate the effect of diet on inflammation indexes.At present,there are few studies on DII among the elderly in Chinese communities.This research takes the elderly in the community as the research subject,introduces the calculation method of DII,and explores its influencing factors.Methods The elderly aged 60 and above in a community of Shanghai were selected as the research subject.Their dietary data were investigated and DII was calculated by Food Frequency Questionnaire(FFQ).Ordinal logistic regression was used to analyze the influencing factors of DII of the elderly in the community.Results The main food,dried beans and their products,dairy products,eggs,aquatic products,fruits,dried nuts and seeds,mushroom and vegetables in the group with pro-inflammatory tendency were lower,and meat intake was higher.Logistic regression results showed that female were 3.14 times more likely to be DII neutral and/or pro-inflammatory than male(95%CI:1.68-5.88);those with senior high school/technical secondary school and college degree or above education were 0.37 times or 0.23 times more likely to be DII neutral and/or pro-inflammatory than those with primary school education or below(95%CI:0.16-0.86);The former smokers and current smokers were 2.23(95% CI:1.16-4.27) or 2.07(95%CI:1.01-4.23) times more likely to be DII neutral and/or pro-inflammatory than never smokers,respectively;The subjects with low level of physical activity was 1.98 times(95%CI:1.13-3.53) more likely to be DII neutral and/or pro-inflammatory than those with high level of physical activity.Conclusion DII was significantly correlated with female,low educational level,smoking and low physical activity.
